JUNEAU - The Dodge County Fair Association is seeking ambitious, enthusiastic
and outgoing individuals age 18 as of January 2011 to enter the 2010 Dodge County Fairest of the
Fair contest.
Scholarship money, gifts, improved self-confidence and increased communication
skills are only some of the benefits of being named Fairest of the Fair.
The winner will represent the Dodge County Fair Association in media and
promotion events at the Dodge County Fair, as well as many other summer events. She also will serve
as the 2010 Dodge County Fair hostess and plan the Fairest of the Fair competition in 2011. The
winner will have the opportunity to participate in the 2011 Wisconsin Fairest of the Fairs
contest.
The 2009 Dodge County Fairest of the Fair, Amanda Hetzel, is a student at
UW-Oshkosh and a native of Rubicon. Her goal is to be a registered nurse with an emphasis in
diabetic education. Amanda experienced many new opportunities as the Fairest of the Fair, including
last year's Farm Technology Days hosted by the Crave Brother's Farm in Waterloo.
"As the 2009 Dodge County Fairest of the Fair I was able to experience Farm
Technology Days for the first time and see a different side to farming than I was used to," Hetzel
said.
Amanda was also able to attend the 2010 Convention of Fairs and run for the 2010
Wisconsin Fairest of Fairs.
"This was a great chance to get to know the amazing contestants from every
county of Wisconsin. It offered me a chance to promote the Dodge County Fair and may have even
triggered an interest in exploring county fairs in towns I had not thought of," Hetzel said.
All applicants for the Fairest of the Fair position will receive gifts, valuable
interview experience and build self-confidence while having fun. Applicants must be available for
the Press Banquet on July 12 and for the Dodge County Fair Aug. 18 to 22, 2010.
For more information about the contest or if you would like an application,
contact Sally Schoenike, Dodge County 4-H Youth Development Agent at 386-3790. The application can
also be found online at http://www.uwex.edu/ces/cty/dodge/4h (Click Dodge County Fair and Fairest
of the Fair under Registration Forms.) All applications must be received at the Dodge County
UW-Extension Office by June 11.
