For many visitors at the Dodge County Fair, the Moo Booth provides an up-close interaction with the state’s signature industry: dairy production.
Organized by the Dairy Youth Advisory Committee and the Dodge County Dairy Promotion Committee, the Moo Booth has one main objective, according to coordinator Felicia Bohn: promotion of agriculture. “The Moo Booth allows the public to get involved and see the dairy industry first-hand,” she states.
Over the course of the fair, coordinator Felicia Bohn will be on hand to oversee the daily activities at the dairy education booth. Bohn will be a senior this fall at the University of Wisconsin-Platteville, where she is majoring in Animal Science with a dairy emphasis and a minor in Agriculture Business.
At the Moo Booth visitors of all ages can take part in exciting activities including coloring stations, crafts, a scavenger hunt, and more. Take a moment or two and interact with calves and get your answers about the dairy industry answered by one of the volunteers staffing the education area. And you won’t want to miss out at hand milking Abby Sue, the wooden milking cow. Abby Sue is handmade by retired dairy farmer and longtime program volunteer, Carl Werner.
The educational Moo Booth will be open Wednesday-Saturday from 10am – 8pm and Sunday from 10am – 6pm. Stop by and discover more about the dairy industry!
