All smiles at the Little Britches Contest

The Dodge County Fair wrapped up on Sunday with cute kids and calves to boot for the Little Britches Contest. Smiles and fun filled the Farm Progress Arena, as young kids from 4K thru 4th grade had the opportunity to show a dairy calf. The contestants demonstrated their showmanship abilities by leading their calf throughout the show ring for Judge Trent Olson. As in previous years, Charles Crave was on hand to speak with all the youth and put a smile on their faces!

The Little Britches contest gives these young kids a chance to get a taste for competition and hopefully encourage them to participate with their own animals when they get older. All age groups were given a small orientation before they entered the ring by Bonnie Borden, UW-Extension Dairy and Livestock Youth Educator.

“The Little Britches contest is something all fair-goers, youth and parents look forward to every year. How can you not smile and enjoy the last day of the fair with this much entertainment in the show ring,” highlighted Borden.

All participants were awarded a ribbon and t-shirt, sponsored by Animart of Beaver Dam.
