Hundreds of lanterns will light up the sky again this summer when Lights Fest returns to the Dodge County Fairgrounds. The 2018 event is scheduled for Saturday, June 16. The event will begin around 4:00 pm and lanterns will be released at dusk. Join thousands of participants, as hundreds of personalized sky lamps take flight. Attendees will write memorials and declare goals on their lanterns, then light them with tiki torches before they lift off into the sunset.

Reasons for releasing lanterns will be as different as the individuals themselves. Attendees should consider bringing family members, friends and neighbors to join them. Participants should encourage individuals to join them – those that are seeking purpose or resolution, are looking for something more or want to fulfill a lifelong dream. Participants commonly release lanterns to honor a lost loved one, to celebrate an accomplishment or to declare a dream. This unique movement allows everyone to participate, be in the moment, reflect and let their reason soar. Come with an idea, tell your story, and leave with direction, purpose and inspiration. Expect change by participating in this unique event of declaration.

Beaver Dam is just one of the many stops on the nationwide tour. This is the second visit to Dodge County. Participants are expected to travel from Madison, Milwaukee, Green Bay and the Fox Valley area for this unique and moving experience.

Live music, food and entertainment will also bring the community together. Live music will include various genres and forms of musical entertainment, including local talent. Food carts will also be available, offering a variety of food for purchase.

This family-friendly event will also feature face painting, magicians, balloon artists and dancers who will perform for the youngest of dreamers. Children will enjoy the complimentary sparkler dance party, which is scheduled before the lanterns are launched. Light-up toys and gear will also be available for purchase in the merchandise store.

Participants may pre-register online or at the event. Both cash and major credit cards will be accepted at the event. Hurry, as space is limited and you won’t want to miss out on the best prices! Check the Lights Fest website for current rates and information. Children ages 4-12 years will receive a reduced children’s admission. Lanterns are not included with a child’s ticket. Children ages three years and under receive free admission to the event with a paying adult. Adults (ages 13 years and older) will be charged an adult ticket price. Admission tickets include a packet that will be picked up at the event. The packet contains a lantern and marker. Parking for events at the Dodge County Fairgrounds is always free.  Save your spot by going to the Wisconsin registration site https://thelightsfest.com/event/madison-2/

Attendees should consider bringing chairs, blankets and jackets as the sunsets and the temperature becomes cooler.  But they should also arrive with an open heart, positive attitude and mindset.
