Youth entering grades 3 and 4 this school year will have the opportunity to show calves in the Junior Showmanship Contest. Judging will focus on the proper showmanship techniques demonstrated by each participant and the training of the calf. This event is organized by the Dodge County Dairy Youth Advisory Committee and aims to promote interest in the Dairy Project.

Showmanship teaches youth how to present themselves and their animals in the best possible light. This valuable skill will serve them well throughout their lives, including in school, job interviews, and in the workplace.

All participants will use calves already available at the Fairgrounds. Participants are encouraged to wear white or khaki pants and rope or show halters. While toppers are encouraged, they are not required. To participate, it’s recommended that participants pre-enter by August 1. Entry forms can be obtained from the Dodge County UW-Extension Office or found in the Open Class Fair book.

The show will be available as a live stream and recorded on our YouTube channel.
