Youth entering grades 3-4 this school year show calves in the Junior Showmanship Contest. Judging will be based on proper showmanship techniques as demonstrated by the participant and how well the calf is trained. Organized by the Dodge County Dairy Youth Advisory Committee, the event was created to help promote interest in the Dairy Project.  Showmanship teaches youth to show themselves and their animal in the best possible way.  This is a skill they will carry throughout life – something they will use in school, in job interviews and on the job.

All participants will use calves already at the Fairgrounds, encouraged to wear white/khaki pants and use rope/show halters. Toplines are also encouraged, but not required. Pre-entry due August 1 is encouraged. Entry forms can be picked up at the Dodge County UW-Extension Office or can be found in the Open Class Fair book.
