Kelly Vierck, 19, of Juneau started her sheep showing career in sixth grade while she was in 4-H and FFA. Introduced to the industry by her meats judging coach, Becky Doman, Vierck’s interest in showing blossomed from showing market lambs to the establishment of Rose Hill Southdowns.
After showing at the Dodge County Fair, she kept back a commercial black face ewe to breed for future stock. Throughout the years she has helped youth in Washington County get involved in the sheep industry by selling market lambs to interested exhibitors. Her journey in the commercial sheep industry however led her down a different path.
