Classic rock fans are in for a real treat on August 18, when they can sing along to hit after hit from both Foghat and Grand Funk Railroad on the Dodge County Fairgrounds main stage. Foghat will take the stage first at 8:00 pm on Saturday evening. This unique back-to-back performance will conclude, when Grand Funk Railroad finishes the evening with an exceptional classic rock performance at twilight.
Sing and dance under the stars to numerous pop melodies from Grand Funk Railroad, such as “Locomotion”, “Some Kind of Wonderful”, “I’m Your Captain/Closer to Home” — and their first number one hit single, “We’re an American Band”. The group has a total of nineteen charted singles, eight Top 40 hits and two Number One hit singles on their long list of accomplishments, along with thirteen gold and ten platinum records.
Grand Funk Railroad became the top-selling American rock group of the 1970’s. This summer the band celebrates forty-nine years performing for millions of fans on tours like this one. The five-man band will perform at forty shows across the country during their 2018 tour. Originally from the Midwest, the group will return to the area – right here in Beaver Dam. The group has performed for sold-out audiences all over the world – some crowds reaching close to 25,000 people. Get up close and personal with the band at the Dodge County Fair grandstand stage.
The legendary group includes original founding members on vocals and drums, Don Brewer, and original bassist, Mel Schacher. The band also comprises of singer, Max Carl (38 Special), lead guitarist, Bruce Kulick (KISS), and talented keyboardist, Tim Cashion (who has worked with the legendary Bob Seger).
Grand Funk Railroad has had their soulful pop and rock sounds included on various sound tracks and were also featured in a Disney animated feature film. Concert attendees will also recognize their classic rock sound from various television and radio advertisements, including General Motors.
