American country music group, Sawyer Brown, will be kicking-off the free 2019 Dodge County Fair concert series. The band will appear with their recognizable hits for the third time on the grandstand stage in Beaver Dam. The concert is scheduled for Thursday, August 15 at 8:00 pm, with four of its five founding members. The five-man band, includes Mark Miller (lead vocals), Gregg “Hobie” Hubbard (keys/piano), Jim Scholten (bass), Joe “Curly” Smyth (drums/percussion) and its newest member, Shayne Hill (lead guitar). Sawyer Brown previously played at the Dodge County Fair in 1995 and 1999.
The original five members were formerly part of Don King’s road band, and later formed Sawyer Brown in 1981. Three years later, the group signed with Capitol Records in 1984, after winning the popular 1980’s television voice competition show, Star Search, the year prior. The group has since released twenty albums, which featured three Number One singles, including “Step That Step”, “Some Girls Do” and “Thank God for You”. Fans will also recognize their Top 5 hits, “I Don’t Believe in Goodbye” and “This Time”, among fifty other melodies who have entered the U.S. Billboard Hot Country Songs charts. Sawyer Brown is decorated with three certified gold albums and a Horizon Award from the Country Music Association (1985) and a well-deserved Vocal Group of the Year award from the Academy of Country Music (1997). TNN Music City News Country Awards also awarded the band five Vocal Band of The Year Awards.

Are blankets allowed and can they be put down during the day to save seat for nighttime shows?
Great question Sandra … In response to feedback from our fans, a new process for grandstand seating has been put in place… Signs and decals in the grandstand area are now posted; “Unattended Seats Available at Show Time”. Our fans reported reserved spaces with blankets on seats and no one would show up. Therefore, starting at the 2018 Fair all seats in the grandstand are available to anyone at the start of the concert, pull, or demo derby. Go ahead and sit on the blanket left by someone else, maybe their plans changed, we want everyone in attendance to enjoy the entertainment. If you want to use the space you reserved please be at your spot at the start of the show. For each night there is a slightly different process, more information for each night can be found at https://dodgecountyfairgrounds.com/faqs/when-can-i-set-up-my-chairs-for-the-entertainment/

Yes, there is a handicap section for watching the concerts at the base of grandstand sections F through G. Your friends and family may sit next to you on lawn chairs, the area is paved throughout with slight incline to see the stage. Wheelchair access should not be a problem, the handicap area will be roped off with yellow caution tape, feel free to enter, security will monitor and help to make space available. Attendees in wheelchairs or sitting with walkers are welcome to use this area to watch the music entertainment. The area is shown on our Concert Seating map here https://dodgecountyfairgrounds.com/dodge-county-fair/concert-seating/
