Grand Funk Railroad in concert
August 17, 2024 @ 8:00 PM - 9:30 PM
“The American Band”, Grand Funk Railroad will be traveling down the local tracks, heading back to Beaver Dam with their classic rock and funk sound on August 17. The group previously performed at the 2018 Dodge County Fair, fascinating fans on the grandstand stage with five decades of timeless tracks. Their upcoming performance at the fairgrounds will take place on Saturday evening at 8:00 pm.
Their ageless hits span more than five decades – since 1969 – with the group making Beaver Dam one of their spots on their 2024 Tour. This tour celebrates the 50th anniversary of “The Loco-Motion” and fifty-five years of making music for their loyal fans. Grand Funk Railroad has released seven gold albums and two platinum albums during their legacy. The group also collected ten certifications, exceeding 25 million copies sold worldwide. With hits like “Some Kind of Wonderful”, “We’re and American Band”, “Walk Like a Man”, “I’m Your Captain/Closer to Home” and “Locomotion”, it’s no wonder these albums were so successful and popular with both pop, funk and rock fans alike. The group recorded a total of nineteen charted singles, with eight Top 40 hits and two Number One hit singles among them.
Grand Funk Railroad fans only need to pay their admission to the Dodge County Fair to attend. Daily gate admission is $10 before noon; or $15 after noon. Children age nine and under are FREE. Season tickets are only $35 in advance or $40 at the gate. Tickets can be purchased at most Dodge County Banks, Beaver Dam Food Pride, Beaver Dam or Juneau Piggly Wiggly, Leroy Meats of Horicon and Fox Lake, or at the Fairgrounds Office.

Is there indoor area for Grand Funk Railroad if it rains?
Also, do you have handicap parking?
We plan to have the concert as scheduled on the main stage, the start time might be delayed if thunderstorms are in the area but rain would not stop the performance unless it caused an unsafe condition. Yes, we have handicap parking on the West and East sides of the Fairgrounds, just ask the ticket takers or car parkers for help locating those areas. Thank you!
Is it rain or shine and the show goes on? Is the grand stand covered?
Yes, concerts are held rain or shine unless the entertainer makes a decision to delay the start time for safety reasons. Our grandstand is not covered, so dress appropriately. Thank you!
Question: Will Mark Farina be with Grand funk on Saturday? Just wondering if you know who is in the band now.
Grand Funk Railroad is a rock band that has undergone several lineup changes throughout its history. The current iteration features a mix of original and new members. Original members Don Brewer (vocals and drums) and Mel Schacher (bass guitar) continue to be the core of the band. They have been joined by Max Carl (lead vocals, formerly of 38 Special), Bruce Kulick (lead guitar, formerly of KISS), and Tim Cashion (keyboards) to complete the current lineup.
What is the seating situation for Grand Funk? How close can we be seated to the stage?
Thanks for asking Ray – Spots up close to the stage (on the ground floor) is for standing room only, no chairs. You’re welcome to claim a spot next to the stage fence as soon as the tractor pull is done and the area has been setup for concerts. Front row spots are, first-come first-pick. We have more information on concert seating in a FAQ by following this link https://dodgecountyfairgrounds.com/faq-items/when-can-i-set-up-my-chairs-for-the-entertainment/
