Open Class Dairy Cattle Judging
August 18, 2017 @ 11:30 AM - 1:00 PM
Dodge County is very fortunate to have a strong open-class dairy program; breeds include Holstein, Guernsey, Brown Swiss, Jersey, Ayrshire, and Milking Shorthorn. As is typical of showing dairy, age classifications in this division range from spring calf to five-year-old cow — including get of sire, three best females, and produce of dam. Animals are exhibited in the farm progress arena by adults or children wearing white pants and a white or colored shirt, belt, and close-toed shoes. Back tags will be provide and should be displayed on the back of each exhibitor. In addition to the standard exhibitor-ticket entry fee, a stall charge is applied: $2 per animal. Read the open-class exhibitor book for more details, including health rules. Judging in the open-class dairy division will be held Friday of the fair at 11:30 a.m. First, second, third, and fourth place is awarded in each category. Fair goers are encouraged to sit and watch the judging process.
