Open Class Flowers Judging
August 16, 2017 @ 9:00 AM - 10:00 AM
Fair goers can mosey under the grandstand during the fair and discover the world of Dodge County’s open-class flowers division. Spectacular exhibits range from bouquets of one variety and potted plants to artistic arrangements and themed compositions. “Bouquets” are judged on quality of flowers, arrangement, and suitability of container. “Potted plants” should be ornamental, clean, and free from disease and insects. “Artistic arrangement” awards are based on aesthetic qualities; other foliage and accessories may be used, but no artificial or commercially-grown flowers are allowed. Themed “compositions” should be comprised of all dried materials, and accessories are permitted. Judging will be held Wednesday of the fair at 9 a.m. In addition to awards of first, second, third, and fourth place in each category, “best in class” awards will be presented in some of the classes. Exhibitors and fair goers are invited to sit and watch the judging process. Big-sky greenhouse is a sponsor for the flowers division.
