Breeds include Shorthorn, Angus, Hereford, and a class for other beef breeds together. Age classifications include junior calf, senior calf, summer yearling, junior yearling, senior yearling, and cows two years and over.

Wisconsin Shorthorn Association (WSA) presents the 2023 Wisconsin State Open and Junior Shorthorn Show as an outlet for members to showcase the projects they have invested considerable time and money in. Spectators are welcome, and seating is available.

Top junior and senior showmen of the dairy, beef, sheep and swine projects will compete against each other in showing their own animal, and then showing animals in two other species. Don’t miss the chance to witness this newer contest showcasing the top livestock youth.
Youth entering grades 3-4 this school year show calves in the Junior Showmanship Contest. Judging will be based on proper showmanship techniques as demonstrated by the participant and how well the calf is trained. Organized by the Dodge County Dairy Youth Advisory Committee, the event was created to help promote interest in the Dairy Project.
