Pre-registration for the 2018 Meat Animal Sale Trivia Night Pig-Barn Fundraiser ends March 9, 2018. Money raised will go toward completing the pen upgrade in the 4-H and FFA pig barn at the Dodge County Fairgrounds.

This year’s trivia night will be held Saturday, March 24, 2018, at Dodgeland High School, Juneau. Doors open at 5 p.m. on the 24th and trivia starts at 7 p.m. If trivia is not your game, though, the committee has other opportunities for you to support the cause. “We’ll have a raffle, 50/50 raffle, silent-auction items, and door prizes for those participating,” commented Eric Salmi, trivia-night co-chair.

The extensive list of silent-auction items, basket raffles, and door prizes include, but are not limited to, homemade blankets; movie baskets; wine baskets; car-care kits; an impact socket set; four hog halves (bucket raffle, only, and butchering cost is free); necklace and earring set; sweatshirts, t-shirts; ball caps; handmade wooden American flag; handmade wooden bench; storage containers; bird houses; tickets to the Milwaukee Admirals; Green Bay Packer and Wisconsin Badger items; coolers; many gift certificates for meals; an overnight hotel stay; oil changes; and in-store merchandise from businesses.

Donors of these action and raffle items include Farmers Implement; AmericInn Lodge and Suites; Silica; Taco Bell; Klecker’s Heating and Air Conditioning; Edward Jones; Country Meat Cutters; Thrivent Financial; Holz; Pizza Hut; Culver’s; Menard’s; Dodge County Pork Producers; Harley Davidson; Animart; Recheck’s Food Pride; Blain’s Farm and Fleet; Little Caesars; Countryside Auto Group; Tractor Supply Company; United Cooperative; Sprecher’s; Sports Café; Subway; Pine Hill Trucking; Weinheimer Trucking; many families; and numerous 4-H clubs.

So far, round sponsors include Waupun Equipment; Farmers and Merchants Union Bank; Crave Brother Farm LLC; Compeer Financial; Dodge County Dairy Promotion; Dodge County 4-H Leaders Association; and Vanderloop Equipment. The fundraising committee is still looking for more.

Trivia teams should be comprised of eight people. Registration includes $10 per person or $80 per team. “There will be 10 rounds of trivia, again, like last year, with 10 different questions per round,” noted Salmi. “There will also be a tie-breaker round.” Food will be catered by Turner Hall in Watertown until it’s gone. Everything should wrap up at about 10 p.m.

As a reminder, families and clubs can donate money to cover the price of one pen or part of a pen; the cost of one complete pen is $450. “We will have a plaque with your club or family name on it in the swine barn starting in 2018, and we can name a pen in someone’s honor, too” noted Salmi. “In addition, our committee is selling short-sleeve and long-sleeve shirts to help raise money. There’s a pig on the front of the shirt, and the back says, ‘I supported swine lock up 2017-2018.’ ” All shirts are gray with black lettering. The cost of each t-shirt is $15 for sizes youth through XL. If you need a 2XL or larger, the cost is $17. The long-sleeve shirts are selling for $20 (all sizes).
